Bridge Building 1

We are currently building a bridge in our Algebra 1 class. We are building our bridge by gluing 6 sticks together for each side. We then created a floor structure that was compiled of pretty much the basic  gluing of sticks but this time we connected the two sides and added an extra line of popsicle sticks for stability. I am working with Gregory Edmond, Briana Butler, and Stephanie Ventura. Gregory Edmond is our math wiz he does most of the equations needed for the bridge. We all help him though. Stephanie,Briana, and I all glue our materials together to make them stick. Our bridge still needs to have a stable floor and stronger side structures. At first we took apart the first bridge because it was not even and it was not straight. So we basically started yesterday. We got a lot done because we had the equations, and sketch already planned out. The bridge needs to be 30" long and 6" wide. your group, or people from other groups are not aloud to come and touch your bridge or your materials. And I think you have to use all the materials you baught from mr.C. With our budget money, we mostly baught popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners. We found out how resourceful more popsicle sticks would be and turned in all our pipe cleaners for more popsicle sticks. We wrote a grant letter to Mr. C, debating over whether or not we should or should not get our grant for 50 popsicle sticks. he turned our grant down and advised us to use glue to reinforce the sides and under section. We built a Truss Bridge which its sides are made up of squares that reinforce the ceiling and undersection equally.

CST Testing...

CST testing are the initials for California Standardized Testing. CST's are the most important tests for Middle School. CST testing occurs at the final months of the 8th grade. CST testing is the process in which schools decide whether or not a student may move on to a high rank of a subject (ex. Algebra I to Geometry.) This year the Richard Merkin Middle School students took an Algebra I test, or a Geometry Test, A United States History Test, a Life Science test, and a English Test. So that will equal a total of 4 tests that we take in 2 weeks!  All students will receive our CST grading results over the summer. A exact date has not been assigned as far as we know. The results will inform us which subjects we are lacking skills and what subjects we are passing on. I believe that the CST grading will be graded with a Far Below Basic, Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced. The only possible way a student will have to repeat a certain class is if he scored a Far Below Basic. Personally I think I did a pretty good job on all except for the Algebra I CST. In the beginning it was overall easy. But the other second half was a real pain. There were questions that i had no clue about. I was so frustrated. I mostly did educated guesses in the second half. English was simple for me. I've always been really good when it comes to Reading and Writing. I have had some trouble with the geography of the United States History CST. There were a lot of questions that i had no problem with.  But I only struggled with the geography. Ms. Menzies our History teacher never actually went over the Geography of places. Science was easier than i expected. The only thing i remember struggling with in science has to be the chemical equations of elements and compounds. My goal for all CST tests were to hit a 49% or above in all...

Anne Frank Stage Adaptation

I believe that a stage adaptation is the act of setting up stage elements such as lighting, colors for you background, directors, producers etc. The play of Anne Frank begins with the year 1945(end of the Holocaust) because that was the year when Mr. Frank (Annes Father) returns to the 3 room annex to reminice of all the memories of his family while he was still going through the genocide of his people (the jews). Also, at this moment of time, Anne died due to the migration of jews to concentration camps, gas chambers, and giant ovens. So as Mr. Frank begins to read Annes diary that she has been
writing in since she was 13, his voice slowly fades out while her voice fades in, and thats how Scene 2 begins.

What Is Drama?

When people first hear the word drama they usually think about Fights, Arguments, etc. Drama does not always have to be played out, it may and can be real. It happens all the time. your family argues in the car, your sister telling you to give back her phone, your brother telling you to stop bothering him. But wh
en drama is set up and played out, there is many elements needed to make the audience, believe that the play is real. Some of the many elements that are very important to a play include: Set (setting), Actors, Scripts, Lights/Sound, costumes, etc. But I personally believe that a Setting and actors are the most important. I believe so because they are what make a play, a play, they are the center of attention for their
 audience...
